  • American College of Cardiology - http://www.acc.org/ Offers a database of society sponsored practice guidelines, a basic Internet tutorial, Internet databases, expert systems, imaging, and a listing of virtual medical libraries.
  • American Heart Association - http://www.americanheart.org/ Useful content. One of the best association sites. Resources for the consumer about healthy living, nutrition and fitness, plus a risk assessment test for heart disease. Resources for healthcare and science professionals include scientific statements, treatment guidelines, information about conferences, CME, research grants and more. Contains much statistical information in an easy-to-use "Heart and Stroke A-Z Guide".
  • Ask NOAH About: Heart Disease and Stroke - NOAH seeks to provide high quality full-text health information for consumers that is accurate, timely, relevant and unbiased. NOAH currently supports English and Spanish."
  • Auscultation Assistant - A unique way to utilize the multimedia capabilities of the Web to enhance teaching of physical diagnosis. This site was designed to assist medical students and health care professionals with learning how to distinguish between various heart and breath sounds. Using this site will require a computer equipped with a sound card and speakers. The site includes a brief introduction to murmur physiology, an audio listing of systolic murmurs, and various other sound files. Hosted by the UCLA School of Medicine.
  • Cardiology Compass - http://www.cardiologycompass.com/ This site is “a guide for navigation to cardiovascular information resources.” It contains links to many professional education resources.
  • Cardiovascular Laboratory - The Cardiovascular Lab Videodisc program presents realistic cardiovascular physiology experiments that traditionally have been conducted by health science students. In recent years many schools have deleted these experiments from their curricula. This program was designed to provide basic science students with some of the valuable hands-on learning experience of the tradition.
  • CliniWeb's Cardiovascular Diseases page - CliniWeb, a project at Oregon Health Sciences University, is an index and table of contents to over 2,500 Web sites of clinical information. Keyword search or browse through the MeSH hierarchy. CliniWeb is well researched and current.
  • Galaxy Cardiovascular Diseases - This is a free multi-disciplinary web directory funded through banner advertising and sponsorships. It is one of the oldest browsable/searchable web directories on the Internet. Extensive listings are comprehensive but are NOT reviewed for quality. Galaxy lists over 100 cardiology Web sites.
  • HealthAtoZ : Cardiovascular Diseases - http://www.healthatoz.com/ Over 150 reviewed cardiology sites with a 5-star rating system to target the best Web pages. Sites are selected and rated by a medical advisory board on a 5-star system. Select the topic from the "search categories" menus or perform a subject search. This is a free site supported by controlled commercial advertising.
  • healthfinder™ - http://www.healthfinder.gov/ Maintains a robust list of consumer health information web sites, selected online publications, databases, self-help groups, as well as the government agencies and non-profit organizations. Search for the specific topic in the A-Z topics list or type keywords in the search dialog box.
  • HealthWeb Cardiology page - This resource is a collaborative effort between the Library of the Health Sciences at the University of Illinois - Chicago and the "Big Ten" Universities Committee on Institutional Cooperation. "HealthWeb provides links to specific, evaluated information resources... selected by librarians... at leading academic medical centers in the Midwest." Working together within their “areas of excellence,” they have chosen and critically evaluated a small group of non-commercial resources, rather than providing an exhaustive index.
  • Heart Information Network - An educational Web site that provides a wide range of information and services to heart patients and others interested in learning about lowering risk factors for heart disease. A section provides excellent reviews and a 4-star rating system of cardiology Web sites.
  • Introduction to Cardiothoracic Imaging -  From the Yale University School of Medicine, this site features a wide variety of imaging techniques, imaging findings, and case studies to facilitate learning in the area of cardiothoracic imaging. Labeled images, a glossary, sound files (such as Transesophageal echocardiography), useful audio notes, and digital video all contribute to making this site a valuable resource.
  • Journal of the American College of Cardiology - Publishes original, peer reviewed clinical and experimental reports that cover coronary artery and valve disease, vascular surgery, cardiomyopathy, and large multicenter studies of new therapies. Full-text feature articles, and table of contents with abstracts are provided.
  • Martindale’s "Virtual" Medical Center : Cardiology & Pulmonary Center - The site includes medical dictionaries, on-line medical journals, interactive patient cases, and more.
  • Medical Matrix - http://www.medmatrix.org/ Medical Matrix is a comprehensive, clinically oriented database designed to be a "home page" for physicians. Sites are authoritative, peer reviewed, annotated, frequently updated and ranked according to a 5-star rating system. Medical Matrix is authored by Gary Malet, a family physician and Lee Hancock, an educational technologist. The Editorial Board members are drawn from the American Medical Informatics Association's Internet Working Group. First-time use may require registration passwords. Select the topic from menus or perform a subject search.
  • MEDLINEplus: Heart and Circulation Topics - The National Library of Medicine's MEDLINEplus pages provide a carefuly selected list of resources, not a comprehensive catalog. They are designed to direct users to resources containing information that will help them research their health questions. The "Cardiology"" topic at MEDLINEplus includes separate pages on aneurysms, angina, arrhythmia, congenital heart diseases, heart attack, heart bypass surgery/angioplasty, heart disease (general), heart failure, heart transplantation and heart valve diseases.
  • MEDWEB @ EMORY UNIVERSITY - A very comprehensive page maintained at Emory University, this site offers a categorized list with links to hundreds of sites, as well as links to employment opportunities, medical equipment and products, societies and associations, and much more. Select "Browse by Keyword" and then click on the specific topic desired.
  • National Heart Lung and Blood Institute - "The NHLBI site contains many different resources such as booklets, articles, and fact sheets on various aspects of heart disease such as cholesterol, high blood pressure, and obesity. In order to view the booklets, files must be saved on your computer. A nice feature of the site is that the information is clearly marked for "Patients/General Public" or "Health Care/Other Professionals".
